5 paise commemorative coins


After celebrating the 25th anniversary of Independence in 1972, India started issuing development oriented coins from 1973 onwards every year on 16th August on various development themes, aming the all round development of the country and her people.


5 paise: Save for development 1975

 This development oriented coin on the theme “Food & Work for All” was issued on 16th August 1976. Out of the other 3 coins issued on the same theme, the 5 paise coin was issued for general circulation and the 10 rupees and 50 rupees coins were issued as uncirculated/ proof specimens.

It highlights the importance of savings in the development of the the country.  Out of the other 3 coins issued on the same theme, the 5 paise coin was issued for general circulation and the 10 rupees and 50 rupees coins were issued as uncirculated/ proof specimens.

5 paise happy child nations prideTo focus an attention towards implementation of various National and International programs for the welfare of the children, UNO proclaimed the year 1979 as the “International year of the Child”. To commemorate this occasion this coin was issued 5th March 1979. Out of the other 3 coins issued on the same theme, the 5 paise coin was issued for general circulation and the 10 rupees and 50 rupees coins were issued as uncirculated/ proof specimens.
